Mr. Justice (Retd) Rasheed A. Razvi

Mr. Rasheed A. Razvi was born on the 18th of December 1947 in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. His family migrated from Bombay to Karachi in the year 1956. He was brought up and educated in Karachi. He completed his B.A (Hons) in the year 1969 and M.A in Economics in the year 1970 both from the University of Karachi. He successfully completed his L.L.B from Government Islamia College in the year 1972 where he stood First Class Second. He joined the legal profession in the year 1973 and now has a legal standing of over 44 years.

In the month of November 1993, Mr. Razvi was appointed the Presiding Officer, Special Courts (Offences in Banks) Sindh at Karachi (with the status of a High Court Judge) which position he held till 7th April 1995. In the same year Mr. Razvi was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Sindh. However, on 26.01.2000, he stood retired along with other honorable Judges of the High Courts and Supreme Court who declined to take a fresh oath under the Provisional Constitution Order, 2000 promulgated by General Pervaiz Musharraf, a military dictator.

As a Judge of the High Court, he has to his credit several reported cases in the various fields including but not limited to Civil, Criminal, Labour, Constitution and Intellectual Property laws. As a lawyer his efforts have resulted in some leading judgments of the Supreme Court i.e. Supreme Court Bar Association case ( PLD 2002 SC 939), Pakistan Bar Council (PLD 2007 SC 394) Chief Justice of Pakistan’s case (PLD 2010 SC 61) Sindh High Court Bar Association (PLD 2009 SC 879), Justice Khurshid Bhinder (PLD 2010 SC 483), Province of Sindh Vs. Rasheed A. Razvi (PLD 2010 SC 649), Baz M. Kakar (PLD 2012 SC 870), Watan Party (2012 SCMR 584), Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s case (PLD 2014 SC 585), case of 21st Amendment (PLD 2015 SC 401) and many other cases.

Mr. Razvi has also held several positions within the bar associations and bar counsels of the Country. Mr. Razvi was elected as the General Secretary of the Karachi Bar Association in the year 1981 and it’s President in the year 1987. He was also elected as a member of the Sindh Bar Council for the term 1984-1989 and again for 1989-1994. During this tenure, he was twice elected as Vice Chairman of the Sindh Bar Council.

He was elected President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association in the years 2000, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He has been a member of Pakistan Bar Council (the regulatory body for all Supreme Court lawyers of Pakistan) since the year 2000. He has also remained the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council.

Mr. Razvi was conferred the status of ‘Senior Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan’ in the year 2008. He is currently the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan.

Mr. Rasheed A. Razvi has also participated in several international law conferences/human rights workshops and is a life member of the Common Wealth Judges and Magistrate Association (CMJA). He has also remained the President of the Pakistan Chapter of SAARC Law for more than 8 years from 2009 till 2017.

Mr. Tahmasp Rasheed Razvi

Tahmasp is a graduate, with honours, from the University of Wolverhampton school of Law. He completed his LLM in International Law from Oxford Brookes University. He was enrolled with the Sindh Bar Counsel as an advocate in February 2006 and later as an advocate of the High Courts in March 2008. Tahmasp is also an accredited mediator from CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) London.

Tahmasp joined M/s Rasheed Razvi & Associates in the summer of 2006. Tahmasp frequently appeared before the district courts in Karachi and the High Court of Sindh and have several reported judgments to his name.
In October 2012 Tahmasp joined Shell Pakistan Limited as a legal counsel and was part of their global litigation team. During his stay in Shell, Tahmasp managed all litigations matters in Pakistan. He 2015 he was also made responsible for all litigation matters arising in Thailand. Tahmasp re-joined M/s Rasheed Razvi & Associates on the 1st of January 2017.

Tahmasp brings with him a wide range of experience in corporate and civil litigation. He focuses his practice on civil, corporate and constitutional litigation matters. Apart from litigation, Tahmasp also looks after and advices on daily corporate affairs and contract works.

Mr. Abbas Rasheed Razvi

Mr. Abbas Rasheed Razvi graduated with honours from the University of Buckingham school of Law in the year 2010, and has since been associated with M/s Rasheed Razvi & Associates. He was enrolled with the Sindh Bar Counsel as an advocate in ______ 201_ and later as an advocate of the High Courts in _______ 201__. He was made a partner in the year 2011.

Abbas looks handles a variety of litigation matters at the firm but specializes in criminal and constitutional matters. Abbas has several reported judgments to his credit.

The Hon’ble High Court of Sindh on several occasions has appointed him on behalf of Pauper Counsels in order to assist the Court.

Mr. Farhat Ullah

Mr. Farhat Ullah did his B.Com from University of Karachi in the year ___ followed by LLB the year 1992. Mr. Farhat Ullah is the senior most associate at the law firm. He was enrolled as an advocate in the year ___ and as an advocate of the High Courts in the year ____.

Mr. Fahat is a general practitioner specializing in civil and constitutional litigation. His practice areas also include family law and intellectual property law. His broad experience in Constitutional and Civil matters has resulted in several reported judgments.

Mr. Shahid Hussain Soomro

Mr. Soomro is a practicing Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan. Mr. Soomro did his LLB from Shah Abdul Lateef University Khairpur. Mr. Soomro has also done his Masters in English, Political Science and is currently doing LLM from the University of Karachi.

Mr. Shahid Hussain Soomro soon after completing his LLB joined M/s Rasheed Razvi & Associates as an Associate. He was enrolled with Sindh Bar Council as an Advocate Sub ordinate Courts in the month of August 2013 and was enrolled as Advocate High Court in the month of September 2015. He became a Civil Judge & Judicial Magistrate in the month of May 2016 and served in judiciary for the period of almost one and half year and tendered resignation in the month of August 2017. He, after resigning from judiciary again joined Rasheed Razvi & Associates as a senior Associate.
